About

In this two day class, I teach Lean Product Management, combining the most powerful aspects of User Research, Design Thinking, Lean UX and Lean Startup.

Together, in teams you will run through the process from discovering relevant customer wants and needs, their validation, collaborative ideation of product solutions and again the validation of product ideas until, finally a product is shaped in the form of a backlog, story or impact map so out can be delivered.

If you urge for more innovation, creativity, team play and are looking for more knowing rather than guessing, leading to a more structured product approach, these are two days of highly interactive team training showing deep theory and practice.

Each team will work on a single, continuous practical example throughout the course to deliver a true experience of the methods taught.

What

Building great products is hard. Discovering great products, that really meet clients’ needs is harder.

It doesn’t matter if this happens in a start up or an enterprise context, internal or external, B2B or B2C clients. In general, it is hard and counter intuitive for us to cope with uncertainty and ambiguous information of early product phases.

This is a class for pioneers who want to learn techniques for discovery and exploration and for settlers who want to finally build great products. If innovation is your business, this class is for you.

About Markus

Markus Andrezak has been working for companies like AOL, eBay, mobile.de, and other high revenue, high traffic internet products since 1997.

Since the early days, he followed XP, Agile, Scrum and Kanban.

He co-invented Portfolio Kanban, an abstraction of Kanban for managing on a company level and has been nominated for the Brickell Key Award on that matter.

In the last decade he was more focused on the product side and there especially innovation and exploration - the finding of new products.

He has founded his own product consultancy überproduct some years ago.He is an international speaker, and collaborates with some of the best people in product, Scrum and Kanban.

Trisha has developed Java applications for a range of industries, including finance, manufacturing, software and non-profit, for companies of all sizes.

She has expertise in Java high performance systems, is passionate about enabling developer productivity, and dabbles with Open Source development.

Trisha blogs regularly on subjects that she thinks developers and other humans should care about, she’s a leader of the Sevilla Java User Group, a key member of the London Java Community, a MongoDB Master and a Java Champion.

She believes we shouldn't all have to make the same mistakes again and again, and as a Developer Advocate for JetBrains she can share all the cool stuff she's discovered so far.

Woody Zuill

Attend Woody's Workshop:

Woody's keynote session is at 9:00 on Friday 13th May

Woody Zuill has been programming computers for 30+ years, and is an independent Agile Coach and Trainer.

His team at Hunter Industries is the originator of the Mob Programming approach to teamwork in software development, and Woody is considered one of the founders of the "#NoEstimates" discussion on Twitter.

Over the last 15+ years he has worked as an Agile Coach, Application Development Manager, Trainer, and Extreme Programmer.

He believes that code must be simple, clean, and maintainable so that we can realize the Agile promise of Responding to Change, and that we must constantly "Inspect and Adapt".

He has a passion tackling code that is hard to maintain and cleaning, refactoring, and bringing it back into a manageable state.

Case Study/Experience Report

A presentation and discussion of real-life (not theoretical) experiences of the application (or mis-application) of Agile and Lean practices. Case studies and experience reports include some discussion of lessons learned and an indication of how novel the work is.

Hands-On

Participants learn a new approach, tool or technology through using it to solve one or more practical exercises. Any software/hardware requirements are disclosed in the session description.

Tutorial

A session focused around some specific tool, technique or issue. Primarily led by the speaker, tutorials usually include some elements of interactivity or individual / group exercise.

Workshop

An in-depth working session on a specific topic. May include paper presentations.
