About the session
Theme: Team practices
Coaching curious? Join veteran Product & Leadership coach Randy Silver for a practical workshop that will cover what good coaching looks like, how to set up a peer coaching network, as well as what you need to know about becoming a coach yourself. It’s not just talk - we’ll spend most of the workshop time practicing a number of coaching exercises.
We’ll start by establishing what good coaching is, and what people can expect from coaching - and just as importantly, what coaching is NOT. We’ll understand if people have experienced good coaching in the past, and who has access to a peer network where they coach one another.
We’ll spend most of our time on practical exercises, both 1:1 and in small groups. The specific exercises will likely change between now and the event, but they’ll likely include:
- Power dynamics and the power of signalling, via silent communication
- 1:1 chat using the GROW (Goal, Reality, Options, What Next?) framework
- Group coaching with the Liberating Structures Troika Consulting model
- A Gestalt version of Troika that focuses on reframing challenges/weaknesses as opportunities and strengths
- An active listening and empathy exercise
Participant Takeaways
- What good coaching is, and what to expect from coaching
- What it takes to be a coach, either professionally or in a peer network
- A number of practical exercises that you can use with colleagues straight away
