About the session

Theme: Team practices | Software lifecycle | Technical excellence

A lot of risk and technical debt can accumulate on the technology landscape of an 180-year-old organisation shaped by evolution, growth, acquisition and disposals.

This has led to a very varied technical landscape - both in terms of approach and technology. On a landscape that includes everything from you-build-it-you-run-it teams running cloud-based applications through to far more traditional project-driven implementations, how do you effectively shake out the technical debt and mitigate the technology risks while still providing teams with the autonomy to deliver.?

This case study explores the path that pulled together a varied set of enabling and tooling teams. It explores what worked and what didn’t.

Participant takeaways:
  • Learn from the Co-operative Group’s Pit Crew experiment and how it has worked out
  • Understand how working in smaller teams has worked out
  • Explore products and services that have succeeded or failed
