About the session
Laughter increases the hormone that promotes trust and decreases stress hormones. Hear some stories about experiments that tap into the power of laughter to help people bond, be more creative and better handle disagreement. Learn how you don’t need to be funny or an extrovert to encourage laughter in teams – you just need to observe, amplify and experiment.
- It’s ok to laugh at work and it is important to make time to laugh – a study of 50+ teams showed presence of humour in interactions predicted more functional communication and higher performance both in the moment and over time (source: Humour, seriously)
- You don’t have to be funny to use humour at work – you just need to look for what is making people laugh and encourage more moments of lightness
- Be kind and inclusive but remember laughter is a gift and sharing things you love is part of bonding so don’t be afraid to bring your whole self to work – it will encourage others to do the same. I’ll share practical tips and also include a short tutorial on how to harvest and craft a tumbleweed which can be used as a visual prompt to explore silence when facilitating
- A short "design your own sticker" session, where people can experiment with making humour visible
